The clients are first time home owners. A family of four, they bought a tear down, and decided to do the construction themselves. The owners wanted to remodel the whole house, add a master bedroom and bathroom, and rebuild an existing rotten porch.

From the onset, the owners insisted on designing on a limited budget. The house needed to be as efficient to build as possible, and as cheap to build and engineer as possible.

The original house needed a lot of love: new floors, new drywall, new fixtures, new bathrooms, new heat, new cabinetry and new appliances. The addition is designed as a simple square with a gable to work in harmony with the rest of the house. It is South and West facing to maximize sunlight for the master bedroom.
